Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 1 tsp NDH Nagendra Turmeric Powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 dry red chillies
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp NDH Nagendra Kitchen King Masala
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Rinse the toor dal under cold water until the water runs clear. Add it to a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water, NDH Nagendra Turmeric Powder, and salt. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked and mashable. Let the pressure release naturally.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and dry red chillies and let them crackle for a few seconds.
- Add the finely chopped onion to the pan and sauté until it turns golden brown. Then add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the finely chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft and mushy. Then add the NDH Nagendra Kitchen King Masala and stir well to combine.
- Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Let it simmer for a few minutes for the flavors to blend together. If the dal is too thick, add some water to achieve your desired consistency.
- Once the dal is cooked and the flavors are well blended, turn off the heat and garnish your Dal Tadka with fresh coriander leaves.
